A traumatic event is one that puts you or someone else in a horrifying, dangerous, or life threatening situation. Recovery for Teens is a self-help tool that was created to assist teenagers who have experienced a trauma in the last few weeks or months. Some things that are considered traumatic include:

  • Gang or Other Community Violence
  • Car Accidents
  • Family Violence
  • Physical Assault or Getting Jumped
  • Sexual Abuse or Sexual Assault
  • Combat and Other War Trauma
  • Industrial Accidents
  • Disasters: Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Floods, Landslides. Volcanic Eruptions, or Earthquakes
  • Terrorist Attacks
  • Loved ones of a trauma survivor, who are experiencing traumatic stress reactions themselves
